VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT

POST Research Institute (POST RI) and Association of Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) are seeking individuals for employment for the position of Project Administrator, Project Assistant and Communications Officer for the project entitled “Education for a Culture of Peace as a Vehicle for Reconciliation in Cyprus”.

POSITION # 1: PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR
OPENING DATE: 12 August 2014
CLOSING DATE: 26 August 2014
WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
WORKING DURATION: 34 months

Qualifications Required:
•    Degree (or equivalent) in Peace Studies, Conflict Resolution,  Peace Education , Political Sciences,  Social Sciences, Business Administration or any other related field
•    A minimum of three year experience in administrative works
•    Experience in working for civil society organizations especially in bi-communal projects •    Experience with EU projects and procurement rules is an advantage
•    Knowledge and experience in book-keeping and report development and minute-keeping
•     Experience in searching for open funds, writing project proposals and running fundraising activities
•    Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Turkish. Knowing Greek will be an advantage

•    Knowledge and experience in use of

Microsoft Programmes and social media.  Graphic design

programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw and Adobe

Indesign would be an advantage.
•    Experience in website update, social media pages management and blogging
•    Knowledge and experience in event organisation

 

POSITION # 2: PROJECT ASSISTANT
OPENING DATE: 12 August 2014

CLOSING DATE: 26 August 2014

WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

WORKING DURATION: 34 months

Qualifications Required:
•    Masters Degree (or equivalent) in Peace Studies, Conflict Resolution,  Peace Education,  International Relations, Humanities or Social Sciences or any other related field
•    A minimum three year experience in capacity building activities.
•    Experience in working for civil society organizations especially in bi-communal projects
•    Experience in providing trainings to adults and youth is a advantage
•    Experience with EU projects and grant management is an advantage
•    Experience in translation and editing of documents
•    Experience in searching for open funds, writing project proposals and running fundraising activities
•    Good communication, interpersonal, organisational and reporting skill
•    Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Greek. Knowing Turkish will be an advantage
•    Knowledge and experience in use of
Microsoft Programmes and social media

 

POSITION # 3: COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
OPENING DATE: 12 August 2014
CLOSING DATE: 26 August 2014
WORKING HOURS: Part-time; 20 hours/week
WORK DURATION: 17 months

Qualifications Required:
•    Degree (or equivalent) in communications, journalism, graphic design, international relations or related field
•    A minimum of five years experience in public information, campaign development, public relations, bi-communal projects and civil society.
•    Experience in working for civil society organizations as a communication expert
•    Experience with EU projects is an advantage
•    Good knowledge of written and spoken English, Greek and Turkish.
•    Knowledge and experience in peace journalism
•    Knowledge and experience in communication campaign and advocacy campaign strategy development, design and implementation
•    Knowledge and experience in use of graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw and Adobe Indesign

•    Knowledge and experience in digital marketing, website update, social media pages management and blogging

About the Project:

Education for a Culture of Peace as a Vehicle for Reconciliation in Cyprus is a three-year project initiated on 4 July 2014. The project is being co-implemented by POST Research Institute (POST RI) and Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) and financially supported by the European Commission through the Cypriot Civil Society in Action IV Programme under the EU Aid Programme for the
Turkish Cypriot community (Ref No: Europeaid/134660/C/ACT/CY).

The overall objective of the project is to use Education for a Culture of Peace as a vehicle to bring structural changes and transformation in the Cypriot society across the divide in order for a Culture of Peace to be cultivated and sustained.

The specific objectives of the action are:
1. To engage educators from both communities in a dialogical process where the needs for implementing Culture of Peace initiatives will be identified and analyzed;

2. Provide opportunities for educators and learners to apply Education for Peace methodology in their educational settings;

3.  Provide participants the opportunity to spread the message of peace to their peers, their families and the community;
4. Produce joint educational material;
5. Bring youth together through theatre and sports in order
to promote reconciliation;

6. Set Cyprus as an example for future initiatives in Europe and elsewhere through the organization of an International Conference on Culture of Peace and a publication on how to integrate Education for a Culture of Peace in divided societies.
