SAILING FOR PEACE EDUCATION PROJECT (6-11 November 2012)

Another interesting project that POST RI involved was Sailing for Peace Education Project initiated through a comprehensive peace education training in Nicosia in November 2012.

The project started with the comprehensive training on peace education in Nicosia where our partner Loizos Loukaides was the trainer and Emin Koksal was the participant. The project was implemented by the NGO Support Centre and the POST RI was the Cypriot partner.

“Sailing for Peace Education” project brought 16 youth trainers/leaders from all over Europe and Neighouring Partner Countries who were interested in exploring their beliefs and values regarding peace and violence and developing their attitudes and skills regarding intercultural dialogue, gender equality, human rights and responsibilities and democratic participation.

The project focused specifically on deepening the participants’ theoretical knowledge and understanding of Peace Education as a methodology of developing a Culture of Peace in their communities, improving the professional competences of the participants, providing a space for sharing of experiences, ideas and best practices and creating new partnerships and further collaborations. This was achieved while using the sociopolitical context of Cyprus as a background and a case study in order to inspire reflections and further training projects in the partner countries.
