Whore’s Glory Screening

POST Research Institute hosted the screening of Whores’ Glory at the Cyprus Community Media Centre on 6 March 2013 with the occasion of World Working Women’s Day. As the sexual slavery of sex workers due to human-trafficking is a hot topic in Cyprus, Whores’ Glory proved to exhibit different scenarios regarding sex work. Focusing on the examples of Thailand, Bangaldesh and Mexico, the movie explores how the factors of having a pimp or not, religion, class, culture and even the personalities of individuals involved shape the practice and significance of sex work. The movie does not depend on one grand narrative, it deconstructs various stereptypes. It well worths watching a second time, so the ones who missed the first screening, keep an eye open for the second one!
