Book Launch: “Past Traumas: The Representation of History and Peace Education”

On 2nd December 2013, POST Research Institute (POST RI) will have the book launch at Cyprus Community and Media Centre (CCMC) between 4-6pm for the upcoming book “Past Traumas: The Representation of History and Peace Education”. The book is a result of a two-day conference, organised by POST RI in 26-27 November 2012.


The contributors were Luigi Cajani, from the University of La Sapienza; Michalinos Zembylas, from the Open University of Cyprus; Hakan Karahasan from POST RI, and Shreya Jani, from Standing Together to Enable Peace Trust. Various papers from different parts of the world discussed issues like war education, peace education, how to overcome past traumas in education and the role of civil society in (post)conflict societies.

Kitap Tanıtımı: “Past Traumas: The Representation of History and Peace Education”


POST Araştırma Enstitüsü, 2 Aralık Pazartesi günü 16:00-18:00 saatleri arasında, ara bölgede bulunan Cyprus Community and Media Centre’de (CCMC) Past Traumas: The Representation of History and Peace Education adlı kitabın baskısının tanıtımı için bir etkinlik düzenleyecektir. Kitap, 26-27 Kasım 2012’de gerçekleşen iki günlük konferanstaki yapılan sunumlardan oluşmaktadır.


La Sapienza Üniversitesi, Tarih Bölümü öğretim üyelerinden Luigi Cajani, Open University of Cyprus öğretim üyesi Michalinos Zembylas, POST Araştırma Enstitüsü ve Girne Amerikan Üniversitesi öğretim üyesi Hakan Karahasan ve Standing Together to Enable Peace Trust (STEP) isimli sivil toplum örgütünden Shreya Jani, çalışma boyunca savaş eğitimi, ve barış eğitimi; Kıbrıs’ta yaşanan geçmişteki travmaların eğitim alanına nasıl yansıdığı; edebiyatın geçmiş travmaların üstesinden gelinebilmesi için bir araç olarak kullanılması ve sivil toplumun barış eğitimini toplumların gelişmesi için nasıl kullanıldığını aktarıyor.
