“Pedagogical Challenges: Educating for Peace in Cyprus and Israel” Colloquium

On 22 May 2015, Friday, the president of POST RI Hakan Karahasan is going to introduce our latest project with a presentation entitled “Education for a Culture of Peace as a Vehicle for Reconciliation in Cyprus” at the colloquium named “Pedagogical Challenges: Educating for Peace in Cyprus and Israel” organised by European University of Cyprus and Open University of Israel.

Drawing on two case studies of intractable conflicts, Israel and Cyprus, the colloquium aims to open up spaces of academic dialogue between scholars in these two contexts as well as to engage students and education practitioners with the challenges encountered in conflict-troubled contexts, providing both theoretical and practical insights.

The event will include academic presentations in the morning and a seminar with teachers in the afternoon, where Jewish and Palestinian teachers will share their experiences.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
