Call for Youth Trainers

world-peace-pleaseThe project ‘Education for a Culture of Peace as a Vehicle for Reconciliation in Cyprus’ is looking for qualified youth trainers/facilitators (both Turkish and Greek speaking) for its upcoming Education for a Culture of Peace workshops with children and youth.
Education for a Culture of Peace as a Vehicle for Reconciliation in Cyprus is a three-year project which was initiated on July 6, 2014. The project is being implemented by POST Research Institute (POST RI) in cooperation with Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), and financially supported by the European Commission through the Civil Society in Action IV Program opened for the Turkish Cypriot Community.
The project team considers the concepts of a Culture of Peace and children/youth empowerment interdependent and complementary to each other. Youth across the existing divide in Cyprus bear a shared responsibility to help reduce tension, build trust, prevent violent conflict and create conditions for reconciliation. At the same time, what Education for a Culture of Peace can offer in this context is a pedagogy that promotes understanding and cooperation in order to contribute to the reconciliation of communities that have long been divided due to intractable conflict by bringing them together to engage in human rights issues. These are promoted through a holistic approach, as provided by Education for a Culture of Peace.
In this context, one of the specific objectives of the project is to engage 160 students across the divide in workshops on Education for a Culture of Peace. Consequently, we are looking for qualified youth trainers/facilitators for conducting training and educational/cultural/other activities with children and youth. Those interested should send their CV and a small paragraph (150 words) describing their motivation for participating in our project and their relevant professional and/or academic background to info@e4cp.org by Friday, 12 February 2016. Please note that there will be a compensation for the workshops/ activities facilitated.
